Liverpool, who are currently ninth in the English Premier League (EPL) table, will try to improve their standing when they visit Everton at Goodison Park this Sunday for another Merseyside derby.
The Reds have 11 points in the EPL with a 3–2–2 record in seven matches played this season.
As of the moment, Liverpool is on a two-match unbeaten streak in league play after a 1–1 draw with Norwich City and a 3–2 victory over Aston Villa.
The Reds are also unbeaten in their past five matches in all competitions with their last defeat suffered back in September in the EPL against Manchester United.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said, according to BBC Sport, that they will always be the favorites and they are happy to be given that label because, "It shows you the level of expectancy here as opposed to another club."
Rodgers added that they are very close to their goal of reaching the top four as they make progress early this season.
A win Sunday will give Liverpool 14 points and inch them closer to the achievement of their goal.
Meanwhile, Everton is unbeaten in the EPL in their last four matches and are coming off a 3–2 victory over West Bromwich Albion.
The Toffeemen are also unbeaten in their past six matches in all competitions which give them the better momentum heading to the matchup against the Reds this Sunday.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez said, according to BBC Sport, that they can be the favorites entering the match.
But with all the money spent by Liverpool in the past three seasons, Martinez believes the Reds should be favorites.
Martinez also said that a win will help Everton, who are fifth in the table with 12 points tied with three other clubs, have a "promising start" this season.
