'Longmire' season 6 air date, spoilers, updates: popular crime returning to screens in 2017?

"Longmire" season 5 ended with several loose ends that left the fans hanging on the edge of their seats. It is now speculated that the show will continue with the story when it goes back on air next year for its sixth season.

Fans are still waiting for an announcement coming from Netflix which concerns the upcoming season. Fans remain restless about the future of the show, but they also remain hopeful that the streaming company will soon spread the word of a renewed season. Yibada added that show writer Craig Johnson and lead cast member Robert Taylor, who plays Sheriff Walt Longmire, are optimistic that they are coming back for another season.

"Longmire" season 6 is said to pick up the story that was left behind with the previous season. Fans could witness a possible romance between Sheriff Walt and Deputy Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff). It was revealed last season that she was pregnant, although the father remains unknown. It is still a mystery if Vic's pregnancy will be a turn off for Walt.

The previous season also showed that Sheriff Longmire and Dr. Donna (Ally Walker) have a mutual interest in each other. However, they ended up in a dangerous situation when they became victims to an unknown assailant.

Fans are also on the hook when it comes to Vic's complicated relationship. She is also linked to both Eamonn (Josh Cooke) and Travis (Derek Phillips). It would be interesting to know what happens next.

Meanwhile, the show fans are trying to add pressure to Netflix not to cancel the show. A fansite tried to make #RenewLongmireNetflix viral, but it ended up failing to make the hashtag trend. It did not reach the desired number.

"Longmire" cast members are optimistic that there will be another season next year. The fifth season was considered a strong one when Netflix offered the full 10 episodes on Sept. 23. The streaming website recorded more than 6 million viewers hooked on the show, based on a single day of streaming.

The sixth season of "Longmire" is anticipated to be back on Netflix next year.
