The Los Angeles Lakers know that Julius Randle is oozing with potential and talent but in order for him to continue his rise among the greatest forwards of the game, he needs to add more options on his offensive artillery.
Right now, Randle knows how to put the ball down and take it to the hoop using his own creative way. He does, however, miss a decent jump shot which could come in handy to fuddle opposing defenders.
Randle does have a jump shot right now, but such could be improved as observed by the Lakers' shooting coach Tracy Murray, according to The Orange County Register.
Murray points out something off with his shooting form, citing that his release looks more like a catapult shooting release than a one smooth motion.
To correct his form, Randle will be in for one tough summer as the Lakers plan to force him off that awkward shooting form and learn the proper stroke so that he would have an outside shot that could very well reinforce his bag of tricks.
Changing the shooting form of any basketball player seems simple for most, but Murray says that correcting something at this stage is not that easy.
Randle has proven his offensive skill around the basket but the glaring stat is that he is only shooting 25.7% from the outside.
He has shown his ability to go to the basket and operate underneath but at some point, he may need that outside shooting dimension to make sure he can somehow draw his defender outside the shaded lane.
With no timetable on when he can perfect that shooting touch, the sooner Randle is able to correct it the better. He is still young and has a lot of National Basketball Association (NBA) basketball ahead of him and the earlier he adds more skills to his repertoire would be to his benefit.
