A potential "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" crossover video game is as intriguing and exciting as it can get, and with an increasing number of rumors surrounding it, including the prospect of introducing a whole bunch of new characters and a brand-new gameplay, it's no longer a surprise that fans of both franchises are ecstatic.

But according to a recent report, game developer Capcom was quick to quash the rumors, revealing that there have been zero plans of making another installment of the game series, the last of which, titled "Marvel vs. Capcom Origins," was released about four years ago. So far, there have been seven games in total that showcased the characters of Marvel and Capcom, with the first one being the arcade game, "X-Men vs. Street Fighter," which was launched back 1996.

Accordingly, Capcom insisted that should a "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" project be given the green light, the company will be the one to make the official announcement once the video game is done. Therefore, it confirmed that the game is far from being made since Capcom has not provided any sort of detail about it in the press.

Unfortunately for the legion of fans of this crossover fighting video game series, there was also no reason given as to why "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" isn't happening anytime soon. But rumors have it that Marvel and Capcom couldn't agree on licensing issues, prompting a halt to any negotiations or initial plans of bringing together a new installment for the series.

Nonetheless, it doesn't mean that the rumored game is completely out of the picture as its game producer, Ryota Niitsuma is optimistic it'll be developed in the near future. One thing is for sure, though: thousands of video gaming fans are more than willing to wait for it.
