'Mary Skelter 2' PS4 release date news: Sequel to PS Vita title dropping to PS4 this June

RPG sequel "Mary Skelter 2" dropping to PS4 this June 28 Compile Heart / Mary Skelter 2

Another popular RPG title set to make a debut on the PlayStation 4 console this year is the direct sequel to Compile Heart's 2016 PS Vita exclusive title "Mary Skelter."

The follow-up, which is named "Mary Skelter 2," is confirmed to be arriving on Sony's console this June 28 through the livestreaming event at Dengeki Game Fes 2018.

In line with the surprise announcement, fans were treated to a sneak preview of the new RPG title through the official trailer, which dropped at the same time the announcement was made.

Despite the game's confirmation, Compile Heart's revelation only applies to Japanese audience. Official announcements and notices about the new title's arrival westward have still not been released nor news about a planned localization for international audiences.

Previously, news about the new title's development flooded the interwebs, detailing the game's upcoming release.

Aside from being a direct sequel, "Mary Skelter 2" will also include a full remake of its original predecessor "Mary Skelter: Nightmares." The storyline revisions will also fall in line with the follow-up game's narrative in order to not induce confusion.

Major changes on both games' core system will be set in place in the new and remade version. On top of this, various enhancements and alterations were also put into action in the game, map-wise. In addition to this, in response to fan feedback, Compile Hearts integrated a new feature into the yet-to-be released title called Auto function -- this option will let players switch between auto mode and manual mode and improve overall battle tempo.

"Mary Skelter 2" will come in two editions -- a standard and a limited version. The latter, which comes packaged in a special box, will include the two games' original 21-song soundtrack, bath poster, calendar, a CD-ROM with exclusive data from the game, and wallpapers.
