'Mass Effect Andromeda' release date, news: Bioware teases rich, 'spectacular' gaming experience

A key art for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" Bioware

"Mass Effect" developer Bioware made sure that they harness the power of Sony's next-generation console, the PlayStation 4 Pro, in making "Mass Effect Andromeda."

The studio's general manager Aaryn Flynn said that the game should look "spectacular" in 4K resolution even without an high-dynamic-range (HDR) display.

This suggests that "Mass Effect Andromeda" will boast some amazing graphics, something that is hardly a surprise considering the history of the game in this aspect.

Top-notch visuals will be vital in the game seeing that it intends to bring players to various new worlds rich with new alien breeds and innovations.

"We want to wow you again and build alien worlds that you want to spend time in. Not just for combat, but exploration," creative director Mac Walters told Red Bull.

"For me, personally, it's not just about writing an interesting hook for a character but putting her or him in interesting circumstances and seeing how they react to it," he went on to say.

He emphasized that "Mass Effect Andromeda" is not merely about "planet hopping from one combat zone to the next, but real and meaningful exploration," adding that there will be enough elements in these locations to keep fans hooked and fascinated.

The fact that "Mass Effect Andromeda" looks great in itself without HDR shows just how rich it will be to experience it in a more powerful console like the PS4 Pro.

Not much is known about "Mass Effect Andromeda" at the moment, although the N7 Day this coming Friday, Nov. 7 should take care of that.

For now, what's sure is that gamers will play as either of the Ryder brother and sister, who are both Pathfinders, which means they are untested explorers. Even their names are being kept under wraps, although it was teased that their father will be part of the action.

"Mass Effect Andromeda" will be released in March for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
