The Miami Dolphins will host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday as the two teams clash at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida today. The Dolphins got their season off to a tough start in Week 1, falling just short in their road game against the Seattle Seahawks. Going to CenturyLink Field is tough for any team, but the Dolphins were so close to causing an upset. However, ultimately they lost the low-scoring game 12-10 but they could take heart from their performance.
Another road game came up for the Dolphins in Week 2, and another top NFL franchise were the opposition in the form of the New England Patriots.
The Patriots stormed out early on and blitzed the Dolphins' defense, to leave Miami hopes in tatters by half time as the teams went in with New England in a commanding 24-3 lead.
The second half though saw the Dolphins come out looking like a different team. Problems at quarterback seemed to know the Patriots' offense, and the Dolphins took full advantage. However, ultimately the Dolphins once again came up short as they lost 24-31 to go 0-2.
The Browns are in a similar position, coming into today's clash on 0-2 following defeats against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens.
They will see today's game against the Browns as a must win, as they dare not fall to 0-3.
Earlier this week, Thursday Night Football saw the Houston Texans travel to the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots.
Going into the game both teams had won two from two, and with the Patriots having trouble in the quarterback position, many analysts had penciled in the Texans as favorites to maintain their 100 percent start to the season.
However, from the start the Texans found the going too tough, and the Patriots completely shut down the Houston offense. Such was the efficiency of the New England defense that the game decided well before the end of the game.
Many had wondered how rookie Jacoby Brissett would do in his first NFL start, but Patriots fans need not have worried, as he recorded a 27 yard touchdown run and put on a performance beyond his experience.
LeGarrerre Blount also scored runs of 1 yard and 41 yards, to help the Patriots secure a 27-0 win and record their first shutout win since 2012. It was the first time the Texans have been shutout since 2003.
The 23 year old rookie quarterback was rarely put under intense pressure by the Texans, despite Houston having the third ranked defense in the league coming into Week 3.
Brissett ended the night 11 of 19 for 103 yards, as well as running the ball eight times for 48 yards.
Brissett said after the game: "It was crazy. It was awesome. Definitely great to see all the players just run up to you. I got a headache from all the head bobbing and head bumping. But it was definitely worth it."
Meanwhile, Houston quarterback Brock Osweiler said, "I felt like we had a great week of preparation, very focused. The game plan was solid and we worked hard. So this is hard to take. But the bottom line is that New England had a great game plan. They deserve all the credit. But we'll bounce back from this one."
