Surface Book 2 release date rumors point to June unveiling with Intel Kaby Lake

Microsoft Surface Book is getting a successor as early as next month, according to new rumors. Microsoft

The latest rumor about the Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date claims a June unveiling for the laptop. The report came from The Next Rex, which also attached a stellar specs sheet to the device.

According to the site, the notebook will be released next month so it can compete with the rumored MacBook Pro 2016, which Apple is expected to release next month as well during the Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC.

Prior to this report, rumors mills have been persistent about the potential June release of the Microsoft Surface Book 2. It is expected to be a battle of heavyweights next month, with Apple and Microsoft each giving their best shots to entice customers.

The original Surface Book was unveiled back in October. The device took long to design and so it was received positively. Microsoft was always expected to churn out a laptop of their own, which, when they did seven months ago, officially ushered the software giant to the fold.

For the Microsoft Book 2, the company will take things to the next level by reportedly outfitting the highly anticipated device with the Intel Kaby Lake. It is the next line of processors to replace the Skylake, which is rumored to be the unit on the MacBook Pro 2016.

With the next-gen processors powering up the Microsoft Surface Book sequel, a 4K display from the first-gen Microsoft-made laptop's 3000 x 2000 display should be an easy and welcome transition. The tech firm is also adding USB-C port to the mix.

However, the problem with Microsoft's intention to use Kaby Lake on the notebook is that they will reportedly have to wait until the end of the year to get them. If that will be the case, a June launch for Microsoft Surface Book 2 might not push through.

And as it always is with rumors like this one, users are advised to take them with a grain of salt. With June just a stone's throw away, it won't be long before fans learn of Microsoft's plans for the Surface Book line.
