Microsoft Surface Phone rumors: Handset coming this October?

The rumors surrounding a Surface Phone started way back in December 2015, when Chris Capossela, the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Microsoft, accidentally said something about a "breakthrough" smartphone. It has never been the same since then.

The latest rumors say that a possible announcement may happen in October, the same month that the company unveiled the Surface Pro and the Surface Book.

Capossela never directly said that it will particularly be a Surface phone, but Technewstoday reported previously that there is a possibility that it may also be business oriented, just like the Surface lineup.

PC-tablet reported that the reported Microsoft Surface phone is possibly a 5.5-inch phone with an AMOLED display and capable of producing a 1440 x 2560 pixel screen resolution. It might have an Intel Atom x3 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. Optics will probably be a 21MP PureView Zeiss 6-lens main camera and an 8MP Zeiss Wide-Angle secondary camera.

Other rumors say that it will have 6GB to 8GB memory and from 256GB to 500GB internal storage. With regard to the design, one speculation points out that it will be based on the Surface lineup while another rumor says that it will incorporate a unibody design with an aluminum and magnesium combination.

Going to the operating system, it will be of course, Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft has never stopped improving its Continuum app. The accompanying Microsoft Display Dock for selected Lumia phones can accommodate a mouse, a keyboard and a monitor, and can work like a desktop PC. However, if the tech giant can incorporate a full-blown Windows 10 on a mobile device, then the Windows community will definitely rejoice.

News Independent added that the Redmond-based tech giant has laid the necessary building blocks for the alleged Surface Phone with its Lumia 650 release.

Microsoft has not made an official announcement regarding a Surface Phone.
