Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date news, specs rumors: late October release teased in Amazon listing

Word has spread around the internet that tech giant Microsoft may just launch the new Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 along with the all-in-one (AIO) Surface PC just before October ends.

One thing that adds to the suspicion that the new Surface Pro 5 will be having a late October release is the changes Amazon has made to  their product listings. Apparently, the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book have been recently labeled with "Old Version" tags. Recent action by the online market website suggests that a new device might be coming to the market soon.

Though there has been no official news as to what the Surface Pro 5's features will be, the Microsoft laptop is said to come out running on the next Windows 10 OS, and will be powered by the next-gen Intel Kaby Lake SoC.

Additionally, the device is also expected to come out of the box with the Windows 10 Redstone 2 update. On another note, if Microsoft does decide to go with the new Windows 10 OS for the Surface Pro 5, the laptop might be released sometime in 2017 since the Windows 10 OS is also slated for a 2017 release.

The Surface Pro 5 is also said to come out in two variants, a base model that sports a 2K high resolution display powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, and a higher-end model that is equipped with a 4K high resolution display powered by an Intel Core i7 processor. Both versions of the Surface Pro 5 are also expected to come with 16 GB of RAM alongside an NVIDIA graphics unit.

Other features of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 include USB Type-C ports, a firmer and more ergonomic keyboard, and a 256 GB SSD storage disk.

As of now there is still no definitive date as to when Microsoft will be releasing the Surface Pro 5. However, the device is expected to come to the market this year or sometime in 2017 with a price tag ranging from $899 USD up to $1,599 USD.
