Microsoft Windows 10: High-end 10.1 inch tablet in the works?

Nokia Lumia 2520's successor will be released soon, according to listing. Microsoft

A GFXBench listing of a Nokia tablet was spotted and sparked the rumors that Microsoft is set to unveil a high-end Windows 10-based slate.

The listing is nothing new, but more evidence shows that the device is actually a tablet with a 10.1-inch screen display rendering a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 paired with Adreno 420 graphics co-processor, which is the same chipset as Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and Google's Nexus 6. The internal storage is up to 64 GB. It has no camera on board, which could be a disadvantage when compared to other tablets that have shooters.

This is not the first sighting as the alleged Lumia tablet with a keypad accessory was also spotted in import/export website Zauba. It is reportedly the successor of Lumia 2520, which was halted due to unpopularity. However, other details about the new slate are still kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is gearing up for the release of the new Windows OS this fall, which boasts the unified interface feature. The Nokia tablet is listed to run with Windows OS, which is most likely Windows 10. The release of a powerful line up of devices is no surprise as Windows 10 has a bunch of new features that are absent in the previous mobile OS.

Corporate Vice President of Microsoft's Operating Systems Group Joe Belfiore explained that Microsoft is planning to give the full desktop Windows experience in tablets. Before, tablets could not run win32 apps, but things will change with Windows 10.

Microsoft pulled the plug on some of its devices like Surface 2 RT and Lumia 2520. It is also believed that Microsoft put a stop on the RT version of the OS since the operating system was not able to gain popularity with consumers.
