Expect to go deeper into serial killers' psyches in the second season of "Mindhunter."

The crime drama just dropped on Netflix but the streaming giant has already expressed confidence in the show's success by ordering a second season. The order for season 2 came in six months before the show's premiere earlier this month.

No official announcement has been made as to when season 2 will begin streaming or when the production will start but David Fincher, the show's director and executive producer, hinted that they might start filming next year and that the second season may air around October 2018.

In an interview with Billboard, Fincher mainly discussed the show's musical score. However, he also revealed that season 2 will tackle the real-life events of the years 1979 to 1981, two years after the first season.

"Next year, we're looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we'll have a lot of more African-American music which will be nice. The music will evolve. It's intended to support what's happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons," he said.

Since the second season of the "Mindhunter" is confirmed, it's expected that majority of its cast will reprise their respective roles. Series lead Jonathan Groff who plays Holden Ford is sure to make a comeback. Creator Joe Penhall revealed in an interview that the character's name was formed while he was driving a Holden rental car and thinking of a last name to go with it.

Other stars expected to appear in the show's second season are Holt McCallany playing Bill Trench and Anna Torv as Dr. Wendy Carr.

Meanwhile, Penhall left "Mindhunter" after the first season and Fincher has since taken over as the showrunner. McCallany told Esquire that he hopes the show can go on until season 5, since that was what Penhall had initially written. He added that Fincher has touched on the storylines that the show will tackle in the upcoming seasons.

"Mindhunter" is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
