'Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition' patch: Bug fixes arrive

A collection of updates has arrived for the Minecraft Edition on Windows 10. Microsoft/Mojang

"Minecraft" developer Mojang has completed their work on a patch for the version of the popular sandbox game on Windows 10. This version, Beta 0.12.0.1, is exclusive for Microsoft's newest operating system.

"Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition" Beta 0.12.0.1 brings a lot of bug fixes, as well as a few fixes on the achievements sections. "Minecraft" errors are being addressed as well as an error with the "Repopulation" achievement. Squids are now fair game, and spawning and respawning in the flat worlds and the Nether have been addressed.

The other fixes as listed by Mojang are:

  • Added x86 / 32-bit support
  • Anvil UI works better- you can access the main UI while renaming/ repairing & can place items in the second slot
  • Minecarts don't disappear when you enter the nether
  • Creative world saves can be imported to the Trial version
  • Nether brick slab now craftable
  • You can keep chatting with your friends when you get on a boat
  • Mining emerald ore fixed for correct pickaxe types
  • Custom skins tab fixed
  • Enchanted books now include enchantment names
  • Fixed scenario where writing signs would cause the game to crash
  • Fixed issues with furnaces & chests not working
  • Fixed crashes when players repeatedly entered & left the Nether
  • Audio file fixes
  • Fixed crashes for players with non-ASCII characters in names.
  • Fixed world progress saved game issue.

In other news, a report comes from Tech Worm where a dedicated fan gave his own take of celebrating "Minecraft's" debut on the Windows 10 OS. According to the article, video game designer Spencer Kern assembled a PC with "Minecraft" in mind. An image on the article shows his creative touch on the PC, making it look every bit like a redstone, a mineable block in "Minecraft" that is used to power things such as lamps, Minecarts, and automatons. Kern apparently wasn't satisfied with designing only the CPUr; he also created a matching keyboard, mouse, and gamepad in celebration of the momentous occasion, as seen in this image that appears on the very same article.

When asked about his purpose, he answered that it "was meant to be a celebration of not only the new Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta but also the launch of Windows 10 itself."
