'Modern Family' season 7 episode 14 spoilers: Jay earns family's disgust for being a party pooper

Torrential rains will bring the Pritchett- Dunphy clan together in the upcoming episode of the hit series "Modern Family."

In "The Storm," TV Guide reports that the whole family will be gathering at Jay (Ed O'Neill) and Gloria's (Sofia Vergara) house when a huge thunderstorm brings power outages. For the kids, as well as some adults, the experience is exciting, and they have an impromptu reunion in the making. The get-together will also be a good way to diffuse the tension brought about by the happenings last episode, when Jay and Gloria had a tiff over her life-size picture for the hot sauce she is marketing. Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) also need some bonding time, as the latter has been so busy with the closet business she inherited from her father.

The truth is, most of the family members just want to use Jay and Gloria's generator. If the reunion will push through, so be it. At least they can enjoy the night with powers on. Unfortunately, a party pooper will surface and break the cozy atmosphere in the house. Jay wants to meet up with some of his old Navy buddies. Ever since his retirement, the Pritchett patriarch has been busy catching up with friends. He revels in the freedom that he now has and even finds time to adopt a new hobby of flying small planes. Will Jay be the killjoy of the night?

Meanwhile, Phil is over his panic attack and wants to make up for it. His attempts to be the "hero," however, will only result to more problems. Elsewhere, Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) are busy trying to determine what went wrong with Lily's (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) birthday party. Their daughter does not want to be the laughing stock of the school, especially as the most popular girl in campus is in attendance. Will the couple be able to salvage the situation?

"Modern Family" season 7 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Freeform (formerly ABC Family).
