It was previously rumored that Motorola is abandoning its X series smartphones. It was thought that last year's Moto X Play was the last of its kind, until a GFX Benchmark result was spotted.

According to the GFXBench entry, a Motorola smartphone with model XT1662 comes with a 4.6-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, equipped with a MediaTek MT6755 or the Helio P10 processor that comes with a Mali-T860 GPU. The memory shows 3GB of RAM, with 32GB of internal storage.

The result also shows a 16MP main camera with features such as autofocus, face detection, flash and HDR. It is capable of taking 3840 x 2176 or 4K video resolution. It also mentions that an 8MP camera is on the front,  capable of taking 1920 x 1088 or Full HD video resolution.

It is highly speculated that this is the Moto X Play 2016, or may simply be the Moto X. The model number gave it away. Last year's model was known also as XT 156X, Slash Gear reported.

The publication also mentioned that GFXBenchmark is known not to accurately report screen sizes.

No release date is available for the device.
