'NBA Live 16' news: Game's companion app delayed

 EA Sports

The new companion app, designed to be used with "NBA Live 16" has been delayed.

The companion app, which comes with a feature that allows players to scan their faces and have those available inside the game, was supposed to be released on Sept. 8.

EA has been speaking highly of the face-scanning companion app that will be released this year along with "NBA Live 16." Although the game will not be the first to offer the face-scanning feature, as it was also found in "NBA 2K15," it is still the first one to use an app for such a purpose.

EA Sports said that the delay is partly due to issues they encountered in the mobile app submission process, according to Polygon.

The game's publisher has yet to announce a new release date for the "NBA Live 16" companion app.

EA Sports has also said that the delay of the companion will have no bearing on the timeline of the game's demo. As of now, the demo for "NBA Live 16" is still expected to be released by Sept. 15.

The demo will be providing players with a taste of what they can expect from the new game. People can create their own players in the game to use in the game modes offered. With the companion app delayed, it's unclear if they will be able to use their face scans for this feature.

The "NBA Live 16" demo will reportedly offer players a chance to try out Tip-Off mode and Pro-Am, according to Gamespot.

Pro-Am mode inside "NBA Live 16" will allow players to participate in cooperative multiplayer matches with their friends as they hoop it up on several real-life courts.

The demo for "NBA Live 16" is also expected to feature other game modes for fans to try out.

"NBA Live 16" is expected to be released on Sept. 29.
