Markieff Morris finally had a long-standing wish granted when the Phoenix Suns dealt him to the Washington Wizards before the National Basketball Association (NBA) trade deadline.
While it was a no-brainer that he would be dealt soon, the Suns finally found a suitable trade partner in the Washington Wizards.
In return, the Suns got De Juan Blair and Kris Humphries plus a protected future first round pick, not a bad deal for Morris who has been far from the player he was last year.
Morris had a forgettable start this season, a lot of which started when his brother Marcus was dealt to the Detroit Pistons as part of a salary dump move.
The power forward was, apparently, unhappy with the development and sought a trade himself, although the Suns didn't budge, seeing that he had something to give the Suns if he's in his right mind.
He would later on take back all that trade rant, but his season was far from comforting. He saw his numbers dip and was into some incidents that sent a pretty clear message to the Suns — keeping Morris would not work out.
After averaging 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds last season, Morris' numbers as of late have dropped to 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds.
Aside from the poor numbers, Morris was drawn into issues even during game dates. That included an alleged towel throwing incident with former coach Jeff Hornacek and then a skirmish with teammate Archie Goodwin.
From that last incident with Goodwin, the trade rumors involving the power forward came up again and multiple teams had expressed interest. In the end, it was the Wizards that stood out, giving Morris a fresh lease on life.
The question now is — will Morris finally wise up and play pro ball with the Wizards? Can he recall the same form he showed last season that endeared him to the Suns and drew interest from other teams as well?
