'NCIS' season 13 spoilers: Is Ziva David making a comeback? Tiva reunion?

Will there be a "Tiva" reunion in the upcoming episodes of the CBS long-running series "NCIS"?

Recently, a Twitter post by director Dennis Smith sent fans of the Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) love team in a dither. The photo showed him in a "groufie" with the two in a friendly get together, which gave the idea that de Pablo, who left the cast of "NCIS" two years ago, may be returning to reprise her role.

The actress was one of the main characters in the series, where she played Ziva, an Israeli citizen who had close ties with the Mossad. The agent was the daughter of Mossad Director Eli David (Michael Nouri) and an operative of the Kidon unit. She was also a known close friend of Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Director Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly). In season 6, Ziva returned to Israel, where she was captured by terrorists in Somalia. Although others presumed she was dead, her NCIS colleagues moved heaven and earth to save her and bring her back to America.

When de Pablo unexpectedly left "NCIS," many fans were disappointed, especially the supporters of the "Tiva" couple. The actress frequently mentioned during interviews that she wished to return to the series for some closure. Although her leaving caused a stir, she maintained that she remained friends with her "NCIS" family.

While Smith, a known "Tiva" follower, may have tickled everyone's attention with his Twitter post, showrunner Gary Glasberg was clear during his September interview that de Pablo would not make a comeback. He told TV Guide that the current season would indeed play host to past characters, but not to de Pablo. For instance, DiNozzo's ex-girlfriend Jeanne Benoit (Scottie Thompson) was already featured in one of the recent episodes.

"There'll definitely be some surprise appearances of people from our NCIS past, but Ziva David is not one of them," Glasberg said.

"NCIS" season 13 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
