The New Orleans Pelicans announced last Sunday, according to the Associated Press, the signing of center Jerome Jordan to address injury issues they are currently facing at the position.

Jordan was brought in due to injuries to big men Omer Asik (right calf) and Alexis Ajinca (right hamstring), the Associated Press also reported.

The former member of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane was the 44th overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2010 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft, but did not play in the league until the 2011–12 season with the New York Knicks.

During that season, Jordan played in 21 games, averaging two points and 1.3 rebounds per contest.

After his stint with the Knicks, Jordan played for the NBA Developmental League (D-League), Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), and in Italy before landing with the Brooklyn Nets last season.

In his stay with the Nets, Jordan played his most games in the NBA, having 44 appearances and averaging 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest.

Now with the Pelicans and without Asik and Ajinca, Jordan will likely be the main man in the middle for the team until the two can return to action.

New Orleans has one other healthy center in veteran Kendrick Perkins who started in their past two preseason games but has not been that efficient.

Perkins did not score on both starts which saw them lose to the Atlanta Falcons and win over the Chicago Bulls.

Jordan and Kendrick's role this preseason as main big men is expected to diminish once Asik and Ajinca recovers from their injuries and are cleared to play.

The Pelicans will next take on the thriving Sacramento Kings for their fourth preseason game and will play three more before opening the season against defending champions the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 27.

Faith is often accompanied by uncertainty, yet it is in stepping forward that we encounter the power of God. The Israelites learned this at the Jordan River, where God performed a miracle only after they demonstrated obedience.
