INDIANAPOLIS -- Scholarship for the ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is established at Christian Theological Seminary.
Dr. Edward L. Wheeler, President of Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) in Indianapolis, announced that the new scholarship, Stone-Campbell Ministerial Scholarship Fund, will provide full tuition grants to all Disciple students in the M. Div. Program who meet the requirements of the Seminary. CTS is an ecumenical seminary that is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disicples of Christ).
One of the requirements is to be an active member of the local congregation for at least one year.
"This new scholarship fund will allow CTS to provide needed financial resources to those persons called to ministerial leadership in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and will build on the special relationships the Seminary has with the Church. The Stone-Campbell movements played a pivotal role in the establishment of the early history of the Disciples. As the Church and the Seminary plan for the future, the recalling of the vitality and commitment of this important time in the life of the Church and the leadership produced remind us of the importance of providing quality leadership," said President Wheeler.
These new grants will be awarded to new and continuing students beginning in the fall of 2004.
