The New York Red Bulls will look to steal the top spot in the Eastern Conference and keep the Chicago Fire winless on the road when they play this Friday at Red Bull Arena.

New York currently sits on the second spot in the East with 42 points (12–7–6), two points behind D.C. United who are leading the conference with 44 points.

But the Red Bulls in their previous Major League Soccer (MLS) match last Aug. 30 defeated D.C. United and are looking to keep the momentum rolling heading to the matchup against Chicago.

Forward Bradley Wright-Phillips shone in the Red Bulls' 3–0 win over United, recording a brace that gave him a total tally of 13 goals this season to lead the club.

MLS.com reported that eight of Wright-Phillips' goals were netted in their past 10 league matches.

The Red Bulls are also aiming to avenge the 3–2 loss they suffered against the Fire in their first meeting this season, which took place at the Toyota Stadium last Aug. 26.

A win over Chicago will be huge for New York as it will grant the club 45 points to take the top spot away from United.

Meanwhile, the Fire will look to capture their first win on the road this season since they have yet to experience victory away from Toyota Park.

Chicago is the only club in the MLS this season that does not have a road victory and has a 0–8–5 away record.

The Fire's struggles on the road continued in their previous MLS outing against the Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo in Canada last Saturday.

Montreal rallied, scoring two goals in four minutes during the match to seal the win 4–3.

The Fire are fighting for their playoff chances as they are on the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 27 points.

But a win will keep them again on the race as it will give them 30 points and put them on a tie with Philadelphia Union who are on the seventh place in the East.

The match between the New York Red Bulls and Chicago Fire will be played on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. EST. To watch via live stream, click here.
