Nexus 6 on T-Mobile: U.S. carrier scrapes branding off

Nexus 6 Google

Buyers are opting for the Nexus 6 smartphone for the pure Android experience it gives as many users despise the layers of customizations from Android OEM manufacturers and carriers. This is exactly what T-Mobile offers. The carrier announced that it is offering the Nexus 6 handset without the network's branding and bloatware.

"No Corporate Logo, No Bloatware, no crap you don't want on the #Nexus6 from +T-Mobile," reads the post of T-Mobile's Senior Product Manager Des Smith in his Google+ account

Smith added that stripping the branding was carried out based on subscribers' feedback who do not desire any customization. The Google Nexus 6 will be available for $0 under the network's Equipment Installment Plan and subscribers will have to pay $27.08 a month for 24 months under a contract.

This is a swipe to AT&T that emblazoned its logo on the back of the device. The Nexus 6 handset also comes with the carrier's bloatware, which can be removed. Some buyers do not like this added bloatware and branding. Branding is downright free advertising as the logo is flashed for everyone to see. Carriers feel free to encrypt their brand and add bonus software dubbed as bloatware. Some people do not like these additions, while others do not care.

Meanwhile, the Nexus 6 handset boasts a 6-inch screen display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution and 493 ppi, and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 805 SoC clocked at 2.7 GHz and Adreno 420 graphics chipset with 3 GB of RAM. Other features of the handset are Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 13 MP rear camera, and 3220 mAh battery. The Nexus 6 smartphone is available in 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage variants.

The unlocked version of the device is available for $649.99 for the 32 GB, while the 64GB variant costs $699.99 in Google Play Store. AT&T and Sprint also offers the Nexus 6 for a slightly higher price of $682.99 and $696 off-contract, respectively.
