After Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 and its brother Note Edge, consumers thought that the tech company will follow the pattern and will release Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge alongside the Galaxy S6. This speculation gave rise to various concept images showing how the curved screen will be included in the device.

However, new reports debunk rumors that a Samsung Galaxy S6 with a curved screen will be released next year. SamMobile cited insiders saying that an Edge variant of Galaxy S6 will not see the light of day, but confirmed that there is still some sort of variant in the works. The insider did not specify what type of variant Samsung is cooking up.

The Galaxy Note Edge is reportedly more popular than the Note 4 because of the curved screen display, which serves as a dock for some apps and features of the device for quick access. Moreover, the curved screen has a grip area where the fingers rest. The curved part is placed on the right side of the Note Edge, but the company designed it so that, by enabling virtual buttons, it remains usable and convenient for left-handed people.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S6 is rumored to bring the following features, as specs of the device were spotted at the AnTuTu's database:

  • 5-inch quad HD screen display
  • Qualcomm 20nm Snapdraon 810 chipset or octa-core Exynos 7 SoC with 64-bit architecture
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system
  • 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants with microSD slot
  • 16 MP rear camera and 3.1 MP front-facing camera
  • Longer battery life

The Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is predicted to follow last year's Galaxy S5 launch, which took place a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress. Next year's tech event is scheduled on March 2 to 5, 2015. However, Samsung has announced nothing official yet.
