Nokia 3310 LTE specs, features, release date news: Now available in China

Nokia's iconic brick phone, 3310, just got a huge boost as it now has LTE connection.

According to reports, the beloved Nokia 3310, which was previously upgraded to have 2G as well as 3G connections, now has an LTE version, at least in China. HMD Global reportedly quietly listed the Nokia 3310 4G on the Nokia website -- thanks to its partnership with China Mobile.

There is no word yet whether the phone would be available in other countries, or how much it would cost. Very few concrete details are available at the moment, such as the color options -- which are fresh blue and deep black. It also runs on an upgraded OS. Last year's release ran on a Java-based Feature OS. The 3310 4G, however, runs on YunOS, built by China's Alibaba.

The new Nokia phone shares a virtually similar design with its predecessors. It sports a 2.4-inch QVGA color display at 240 x 320 pixels. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera sensor with an LED flash, a micro-USB port, and a 3.5 mm jack, so no problem playing music from its MP3 player.

Memory-wise, it has 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB on-board storage, which can be expanded to up to 64 GB with a microSD.

Apart from the 4G VoLTE, it also supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, which means it could double as a WiFi hotspot. It also sports Bluetooth v4.0 for transferring files to Android phones. All that being said, battery time may take a toll with just 1200 mAh. From 15 hours of talk time in the 2G version, users can only enjoy five hours with the LTE 3310 phone.

With very few details currently available about the Nokia 3310 4G, analysts could only hope that there would be much-needed updates at Mobile World Congress 2018, which will happen in Barcelona at the end of February.
