
Some gadget makers might have become complacent, thinking that Nokia is no longer a tough rival in the market. However, the Finnish manufacturer surprised the tech industry when it announced the Nokia N1 tablet last year. Furthermore, when the first batch of units was put on sale in China this year, the tablet sold out instantly.
The Chinese market, which is considered as one of the key markets for any business due to its massive population, received the first batch of the Nokia N1 consisting of 20,000 units, which sold out in four minutes. This can be translated to 5,000 units per minute.
This great reception for the tablet called for the mobile manufacturer to offer a second batch of the device. It has not been disclosed how many units comprised the second batch, but reports claim that it sold out again, although it lasted more than four minutes.
The miniscule time difference has led to speculations that Nokia either put up more units for sale or the enthusiasm toward the device has slackened. Nonetheless, the units were sold out which is the important thing. It is still unknown if Nokia will release another batch.
The Nokia N1 tablet packs specs and features that are at par with other top tablets in the market. Surprisingly though, it is not a Windows-based device; it runs with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS just like the Nexus 9. The combination of the popular Android OS and the durability and fair specs from Nokia is undoubtedly one selling point.
Apart from the Android OS, the N1 has a 7.9-inch screen display with 2048 x 1536 pixel screen resolution. It is powered by an Intel chipset clocked at 2.3 GHz. It also has an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. These specs and features are supported by a 5300 mAh battery.
Another major asset of the Nokia N1 tablet is its affordable price of $250, which is $100 less than Google's Nexus 9 tablet.
