NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 release date, specs: Stocks being bumped up after initial rush

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 has the ability to provide great performance without breaking the bank. This is also the reason why it ran out of stock once it made its way online and in stores on June 10. However, things are slowly improving in terms of stocks, as they start to appear again.

Newegg, an online retail store selling computer parts and accessories, has one available, from ASUS, out of 6 items listed. The rest are out of stock. Amazon shows several available GTX 1070 units, but only from third party makers or custom models, such as ZOTAC, EVGA, MSI and GIGABYTE. However, there are only two items priced at US$449, the rest are priced higher, US$528 and up.

Gamers and VR enthusiasts can also purchase directly from NVIDIA's website, which currently have stocks as of this writing.  The company allows up to two GPU's per customer to ensure that resellers will not take all the cards.

The Motley Fool has been closely watching the company's stocks of its GPU for the past few days and mentioned that the Pascal-based graphic card model is not running out of stocks.  The same goes for its higher-end model, the GTX 1080.

The GTX 1070  contains 8GB GDDRD5 RAM, 1,920 CUDA cores, a base clock of 1,506 MHz, a boosted clock of 1,683 MHz, 256-bit memory interface width and 256 Gbps bandwidth. A number of ports are available to accommodate several variants of display connectors. These include a DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, Dual Link-DVI and HDCP 2.2. The GPU requires 150 W of power and an 8-pin supplementary power connector to operate.

Incidentally, NVIDIA GPU cards of the previous generation could be found plentiful online and on retail stores. These include the GTX 980 Ti, GTX 980 and GTX 970. Prices of these cards have also dropped significantly since the introduction of the company's latest models.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition is available for US$449 while the standard edition is for US$379. The GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition's suggested price is US$699, while the standard version is offered for US$599.
