Ruby (Meghan Ory) returns in Once Upon a Time season 5 ABC

A familiar face will return in the fifth season of "Once Upon a Time" on ABC.

TVLine exclusively revealed that Meghan Ory will reprise her role as Ruby in the upcoming season of the fairy tale drama, confirmed by series co-creator Eddy Kitsis. The character will join the show in a multi-episode arc.

Ruby, the TV adaptation of the lead character in "The Little Red Riding Hood" — who turned out to be a werewolf — was last seen in season 3. She decided to leave Storybrooke after being framed for a murder that she did not commit.

The news about Ruby's return to the series was revealed days before the release of the "Once Upon a Time" companion novel titled "Red's Untold Tale." It centers on the 16-year-old Red who struggles with her duties at home with Granny as well as her developing relationships in high school. In the novel, Ruby works at Granny's baked goods business but she desires to have a normal life with her boyfriend Peter. The novel will come out on Sept. 22.

Meanwhile, ABC finally released the highly anticipated trailer for "Once Upon a Time" season 5. One of the most notable scenes in the episode is Arthur (Liam Garrigan) getting the Excalibur from a stone. His welcoming committee in Camelot is also featured in the clip.

Viewers of the ABC drama will also see Zelena (Rebecca Mader) and Hook's (Colin O'Donaghue) one-on-one combat and it shows that the Wicked Witch of the West has gotten her powers back.

Also, Emma's (Jennifer Morrison) transition to the dark side is featured in the trailer. Toward the end of the clip, Emma is seen causing total chaos in front of her family and friends.

Merida (Amy Manson) is also seen in the trailer, showing how she perfectly hits the bullseye with her arrow, and how her encounter with Emma leads to a confrontation.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 is set to air on Sunday, Sept. 27.
