As Luffy will continue to struggle in his fight against Katakuri in the hit series "One Piece," it is suspected that the young protagonist may finally figure out the way to defeat the supposed Sweet Commander of the Big Mom Pirates. However, fans could not agree on how he may match the nemesis' skills and eventually surpass Katakuri's superior power.
In the newly-released chapter 881, Jinbe took control of Thousand Sunny's helm, as the tsunami created by Big Mom was heading their way. Instead of fleeing the big wave, he navigated the ship toward it because he wanted to take advantage of the space inside the barrel of a breaking wave. Once inside it, he utilized Thousand Sunny as a surfboard, and he succeeded.
After learning that his comrades were safe, Luffy crashed the broken mirror to break off his communication with Nami. He then told Katakuri that he had no plans of being killed off inside Brulee's mirror world. In "One Piece" chapter 882, readers are to expect a big surprise coming, as Straw Hat is determined to defeat his nemesis.
Everyone expects Luffy to overthrow Katakuri in the next chapter, but not all fans agree on just how he may manage to surpass the antagonist's superiority. A fan theory noted that Straw Hat might develop the Gear 5 technique to break their power difference. Another enthusiast speculated that Luffy could experience an awakening, which will somehow increase the power of his attacks.
Meanwhile, the past few chapters of the manga series have revealed that Luffy was at a disadvantage in his battle with Big Mom's son. Not only Katakuri is a skilled combatant, but he can also counterfeit his opponent's attack and then come up with a better version. But then, previous speculations suggested that Straw Hat will find out the antagonist's weakness and thereby overthrow him.
Theorists believed that since mochi is like food, then it can be affected by fire or heat. There is a possibility that Luffy can deliver an improved version of his famous attack, Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk, against Katakuri. Hence, nullifying Katakuri's mochi-based bout with a fire in "One Piece" chapter 882 is very possible.
In the meantime, readers will have to wait to unveil the surprise in the next run. Since the manga team is currently on break, "One Piece" chapter 882 is expected to be out on Oct. 23, 2017.
