"The Originals" is gearing up for its third season on "The CW," and it will feature new characters who are about to shake things up in the Big Easy.

TVLine reports that the new season will pick up after a six-month time jump in the episode titled "For the Next Millennium." This season, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will be facing off against the Trinity, the first vampires sired by the two and their sister, Rebekah (Claire Holt). Showrunner Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly that the Trinity — played by Rebecca Breeds, Oliver Ackland, and Andrew Lees — will be introduced in a flashback storyline where it will be revealed how the Originals came to be the "cultured, posh, fascinating people they are today," 10 years after they became vampires.

Fans will also be delighted by Holt's return as Plec promised that the actress will be featured in the beginning of the season in flashbacks, although her character will also be seen in the present day with her brothers.

As for Klaus and Elijah, the new season will see them struggling in terms of their feelings for the women they love. Elijah will continue to pine for Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), taking comfort in the fact that she married a mortal who will die someday.

Also, this season will see Cami (Leah Pipes) attempting to tamp down her own feelings for Klaus as she tries to serve as his therapist after her declared his love for her in the season 2 finale. Now that she is a licensed psychologist, she will need to do all she can to get her practice up and running, but it will be a difficult road for her as her only client is Klaus. It remains to be seen if they can keep their relationship on a strictly professional basis or if they will give in to their feelings in the new season.

"The Originals" season 3 premieres on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
