"Outlander" season 2 already has a tentative release date: in spring of this year, but despite that, fans remain impatient about the much-anticipated Starz series.

But instead of thinking so much about how spring is still several days away, TV Line shared its speculations on who would best play the role of Lord John William Grey.

The character is described to be the smooth, light blue-eyed officer who (spoiler alert!) forms a friendship with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The officer makes an appearance in the third Diana Gabaldon book, "Voyager," and it was revealed that he's gay and is attracted to Jamie, although the latter doesn't reciprocate the feeling.

But "Outlander" season 2 won't feature that, since John's character in the upcoming season will still be in his younger years, played by Oscar Kennedy, as TV Line previously reported.

In season 2, which is based on the novel "Dragonfly in Amber," young John meets Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe), but that won't be their first and only encounter. Knowing John's role in the books, it's safe to assume that he will be around for long until he grows up. But who will best play the grown-up John?

The news outlet shared some of the actors who could potentially portray the adult John. Included in the list are Dan Stevens, Tom Felton, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Charlie Hunnam and Ryan Kwanten.

More interestingly, it appears that Gabaldon already had her own list of actors to play John Grey. The author conducted a poll through Facebook back in 2012 to see who among the actors gets the most likes to play the role.

Candidates included Patrick Wilson, Jude Law, Alex Pettyfer, Justin Timberlake, Tom Hiddleston and Simon Baker, among many others. But according to the author's post in June that year, Pettyfer and Baker were in the lead.

The abovementioned actors all look good as John, but who will really land the role? It's something fans should ponder on and look forward to while waiting for the premiere date of "Outlander" season 2.

It may be hard to fathom how such pettiness plays into the government’s wider crackdown on FoRB and other fundamental human rights, or how on earth it could justify extending its repression to children, but ultimately it all comes down to fear.
