Owl City to release Shooting Star EP

Owl City's brand new EP, Shooting Star, hits stores today ahead of his next full-length studio album due out in the summer on Universal Republic.

The EP features his new single “Shooting Star” along with “Gold”, “Take It All Away”, and “Dementia”, which has Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus on guest vocals.

"Shooting Star" was written with the support of Owl City's friend, Matt Thiessen of Relient K.

Seeking out co-writers and outside producers for the first time is something new for Owl City but this openness to collaboration came out of a desire to grow as an artist and follows several very positive collaborating experiences, including songs with Paul Van Dyke (“Eternity”), Armin van Buuren (“Youtopia”), and He Is We (“All About Us”).

“After four years of writing music, making records, meeting new people and performing live around the world, my relationship with God is still what gets me out of bed in the morning,” he says.

“God has called me to do what I do and create the music I create so that I may shed a bit of light into the world and perhaps paint a picture of His unfailing love. It's been a roller coaster of a ride, but after every unexpected twist or turn, I am only made stronger because of the grip I have on the hand of my Creator.”

Owl City is about to embark on a US and worldwide tour, with dates in Japan, Korea, Denmark, the Netherlands and the UK.

He'll be playing a one-night only gig at the King's College London Student Union in London on 7 August, featuring Nina Nesbitt.
