Pat Boone slams 'SNL' parody of 'God's Not Dead 2,' says it's 'outright sacrilege' and 'diabolical'

The comedy show "Saturday Night Live" had a lot of laughs at the expense of the faith-based film "God's Not Dead 2," which stars Melissa Joan Hart as the Christian teacher Grace Wesley.

However, singer-actor Pat Boone, who appears in the movie as Walter Wesley, said "SNL" crossed the line when they made a skit called "God is a Boob Man" and featured a woman being forced by a Jewish American Civil Liberties Union lawyer to proclaim that "God is gay."

"This skit was outright sacrilege. They know if they did this to Muslims they'd have to be put into the witness protection programme," Boone told The Hollywood Reporter.

The singer acknowledged that God has a good sense of humour because He created funny animals such as the giraffe and porcupine, but the skit by "SNL" is nothing short of "diabolical."

"God has only one real enemy — Satan. Satan ridicules faith, and they're taking Satan's side," he said. "They're also ridiculing me and the film, telling impressionable young people not to see it because it's ridiculous. Then they throw in that the lawyer is Jewish to make the Christian look even worse, but it's just anti-Semitic."

Boone said he used to love watching "SNL," and during its early years, he was even asked to host the show. However, since they were unable to guarantee him that they wouldn't poke fun of his faith and family, Boone declined the hosting offer.

"I know they would have treated me like a complete sap," he said. "I used to love 'SNL.' I'd record it every week. It's gotten filthy, though, so no more."

Boone said after their "God is a Boob Man" spiel, the writers and hosts of "SNL" need to issue an apology to God. "I won't waste my breath demanding an apology," he said. "They don't answer to me. They answer to the One they defame, and there are consequences."
