Injury again struck Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as he suffered a mid-foot sprain during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 38–35 win over the Oakland Raiders which will keep him out for a few weeks.
Roethlisberger was sacked by Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith in the fourth quarter of the game which led to the injury.
The veteran quarterback was unable to put weight on his left foot following the contact and was carted off to the locker room.
It was a familiar scene as Roethlisberger was also carted off in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams with a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) which made him sit out their next four games.
According to ESPN, a source said the Steelers had an initial fear that the 33-year-old quarterback may have suffered a Lisfranc injury.
Roethlisberger finished the game having 24 completions for 334 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception.
This 2015 season playing in five games, the three-time Pro Bowler has 119 completions out of 178 pass attempts for 1,508 yards, with seven touchdowns and six interceptions.
After leaving the game, Roethlisberger was replaced by quarterback Landry Jones who completed four of six passes for 79 yards.
Jones is expected to be the starter for Pittsburgh when they face the Cleveland Browns at home this Sunday for Week 10 action.
Following the matchup against the Browns, the Steelers will have their bye week in Week 11 which is helpful for the injured Roethlisberger as it gives him more time to recover.
The second injury to Roethlisberger is just one of the setbacks that hit the Steelers' offense this season.
Setting aside Roethlisberger's injury, the biggest blow the Steelers received was losing leading running back Le'Veon Bell who suffered a torn MCL in Week 8 which sidelines him for the entire season.
Because of this, the Steelers will face the Browns already without Bell, and now without Roethlisberger, two of the most important offensive players of the team.
