Planned Parenthood accused of dumping aborted babies in landfills in 'callous and inhumane practices'

Planned Parenthood is disposing aborted foetuses by sending them to a landfill in "callous and completely inhumane" practices.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine made the revelation on Friday, saying the operation is taking place at facilities in Ohio, WND reported.

DeWine's office earlier launched an investigation into Planned Parenthood in July after undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress showed representatives of the women's healthcare and abortion service provider discussing foetal tissue prices. Although no Planned Parenthood affiliates in Ohio were found selling tissue, the probe concluded they were in violation of rules mandating foetuses "shall be disposed of in a humane manner."

"All three Ohio Planned Parenthood affiliates have sent foetal remains to companies which disposed of the foetuses in landfills," DeWine said.

Stephanie Kight, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio, immediately denied the allegations.

"These new allegations by the attorney general that we are improperly disposing of foetal tissue are flat-out false. Planned Parenthood handles medical tissue like any other quality health care provider," Kight said in a statement, as reported by Reuters. "Our agreements with vendors all require them to follow state law, and dispose of tissue accordingly. If they are not, then I will take swift action."

However, Dan Tierney, a spokesman for Ohio DeWine's office, insisted that the "vast majority of the documents showed they [foetuses] were going to landfills."

"Planned Parenthood cooperated with the investigation, and that is what the findings revealed," Tierney told the Blaze.

The Ohio Department of Health has received DeWine's report and will examine its findings. If the department finds the attorney general's report to be true, administrative penalties are expected to be imposed on Planned Parenthood.

Meanwhile, a nationwide poll conducted by the Robert Morris University (RMU) Polling Institute found that 53.3 percent of Americans support moving federal funding from Planned Parenthood to community clinics that do not offer abortions, while 31.5 percent are opposed, the Washington Times reported.

Surprisingly, the results of the RMU poll, released Dec. 2, were the reverse of the results released last week by USA Today/Suffolk University, whose survey asked "Should federal funding for Planned Parenthood be eliminated?" The result was 58 percent disagreed and 33 percent agreed.

How come the two surveys have opposite results?

The key lies in the wording of the question, the pollster said. While previous surveys have asked for a straight yes-or-no response on defunding, the RMU poll used a more detailed question mentioning the recent Republican Party proposals.

"Congressional Republicans favour shifting Planned Parenthood federal funds to community clinics that perform the same services, but do not perform abortions," the RMU question says. "Would you say you support or oppose this plan?"

Meanmwhile, the conservative Media Research Center accused media outlets of "censoring" the RMU poll because it deviates from the Planned Parenthood narrative. The RMU survey was conducted before the Nov. 27 shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs.
