'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' news: Possible PS4 port, Bluehole, Inc. now worth billions

PlayStation (PS) owners will be happy to hear that the wildly successful PC game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) might soon be arriving on the PS4, as developer Bluehole, Inc. branches out its company into Sony territory.

Following the announcements that "PUBG" will be arriving on Xbox One later this year, Bluehole, Inc. founder Chang Byung-gyu revealed that their company is also discussing the possibility of porting the game to other major consoles. One specific company mentioned was Sony, the manufacturer and owner of PS. This has raised speculation that "PUBG" will soon be available for PS4 owners.

Since the release of "PUBG" last March on Steam's early access, the game has taken the world by storm, turning the little-known Bluehole, Inc. into a $4.6 billion company — a five-fold increase in just three months.

Bluehole, Inc. is also restructuring its company to form a subsidiary called PUBG Corp., which will handle all the developments involving "PUBG." This subsidiary will also be expanding its offices into Japan and Europe. A new Korean CEO has also been appointed in running PUBG Corp. Developer and producer Chang Han Kim will take over Korean operations while chief operating officer Woonghee Cho will handle the international aspects for the game.

Despite the massive and rapid expansion the developers and publishers have been doing, "PUBG" is still an early access title and not yet a complete game.

That said, Han Kim stated, "This new structure allows us to be nimble as we look towards the expansion of strategic business opportunities that include the game's potential in the esports sector and the growth of PUBG as a true global IP franchise."

No specific plans for the PS4 version have been announced yet, but PC and Xbox One owners should expect the finished game to launch some time this year.
