PlayStation Plus free games February 2018 news: 6 games available today, Feb. 6

"Knack's" titular character, Knack, can be experienced first-hand for free by all PlayStation Plus subscribers. Sony

Sony, the developer of PlayStation Plus (PS Plus), announced that subscribers will be able to download six new games, which includes "Knack" (PlayStation 4 or PS4), "RiME" (PS4), "Spelunker HD" (PS3), "Mugen Souls Z" (PS3), "Exile's End" (PS Vita) and "Grand Kingdom" (PS Vita and PS4) starting Feb. 6, 2018. Subscribers can also get a PS Plus Bonus game, "StarBlood Arena" (PS VR required), until March 6.

"Knack" is a family-friendly adventure game. It is a PS4-exclusive game designed by PS4 lead architect Mark Cerny in Nov. 2013.  The game is all about the titular character's — Knack's — journey. Knack was created by Dr. Vargas from a set of ancient relics. He has mysterious powers and can attract more relics to incorporate into his body. He was created to fight alongside mankind in the war against the species called Goblins lead by Gundahar.

"RiME" is a third-person view, adventure-puzzle game. It was developed by Tequila Works and was released for the PlayStation 4 in May 2017. The game is all about a boy who found himself on a mysterious island. Players can control the boy using commands to answer environmental puzzles. Throughout his journey, the boy will have recollections about how he came to the island. In the end, it will be revealed that the entire adventure was made up by the boy's father. His son was lost in the sea, and to be able to come to terms with what happened, he created the journey in his mind, imagining his son coming back.

"Spelunker HD" is a high-definition (HD) remake of the1985 NES port of Irem's arcade version of Tim Martin's "Spelunker," which originated in 1983 on Atari 8-bit consoles.

"Mugen Souls Z" is a role-playing game (RPG). It is a sequel to  "Mugen Souls." It is all about the adventures of Lady Chou-Chou and her new friend, ultimate goddess Syrma. They must work together to stop the ancient threat capable of destroying the twelve worlds created by ultimate gods.

"Exile's End" is an action-adventure game. It is about the exploration of a mercenary, Jameson, who was tasked to investigate the disappearance of the heir of the most powerful corporation in the galaxy on a mining planet.

"Grand Kingdom" is an RPG. Players will be playing the role of a rookie mercenary leader in a continent where four nations are vying to expand their respective territories.

The PS Plus bonus game, "StarBlood Arena," is a multiplayer shooter game. Unlike most games, it has no plot. Rather, players will be engaging in intergalactic combats against pilots from other galaxies.
