PlayStation VR reviews, updates: VR headset offers impressive specs

Virtual Reality platforms have been all the rage for the past year, which is why tech giant Sony has stepped up their game by developing their own VR headset that is also compatible with their PlayStation 4 console.

The PlayStation VR was originally called Project Morpheus when it was first announced back in 2014. The Sony headset was developed to go up against much higher-end headsets such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Though the PlayStation VR lacks the power that high-end VR headsets possess, it does have a couple of features that makes up for what it lacks.

One great thing about the PlayStation VR is its comfortable design. The PlayStation VR is designed to have a two-part adjustment process that holds the device perfectly on its user's head. The device's highly-adjustable design makes it comfortable to use, even for people who are wearing eyeglasses.

Another thing that fans find great about the PlayStation VR is its user-friendly interface. Unlike the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive, the Playstation VR does not require a high-end PC that needs software installments to run the device. The PlayStation VR could probably be the next best thing to a plug and play VR headset, and it only requires its users to go through a couple of minutes of setup time to get the drivers or updates needed to run the device.

The Sony headset is equipped with a 5.7-inch OLED display that lets its users be immersed in a 1920 x 1080 high-definition screen resolution. Though the PlayStation VR's resolution is lower than the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive's 2160 x 1200 resolution, the device boasts a higher refresh rate of 120HZ along with nine position tracking LEDs that allow a latency of only 18 milliseconds, therefore enabling a smoother visual display.

The bottomline is that the PlayStation VR is a great mid-range VR headset that is equipped with just the right amount of features that will leave its users satisfied.
