A brand new trailer for "Pokémon Sun and Moon" was released in Japan, and while no official English version has been released in the West, a fan posted an edited version with English subtitles. The new video also reveals the backstory of the new Pokémon, Mimikyu.

The trailer's subtitles reveal that Mimikyu is a Pokémon that is wearing a Pikachu costume. As reported by Kotaku, Mimikyu's real appearance is still a mystery. However, the developers confirmed that there is a creature underneath the costume, and its true nature may be shown in "Pokémon Sun and Moon."

It is also revealed that the Mimikyu is not fond of the sun and that it always hides in the darkness to avoid direct sunlight. Mimikyu also reveals in its song that it is always lonely and that it is one of the type of Pokémon that requires a lot of attention.

Mimikyu reveals that it is imitating Pikachu because most people love Pikachu. This is a little bit of a real-world tease given that Pikachu is the official mascot for the "Pokémon" franchise. This may be an attempt for it to gain more love and attention.

At the end of the trailer, Mimikyu constantly states that it is not a spooky Pokémon, and it always says that it is a friendly Pokémon like Pikachu. Fans speculate that this means the actual Pokémon underneath the Pikachu costume is a scary-looking Ghost Pokémon or a Fairy-type Pokémon.

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" will launch for the 3DS on Nov. 18. With the reveal of the Nintendo Switch, it is uncertain at this point if the game is also going to be ported to the Switch since the latter is both a home console and a portable hand-held device with detachable controllers. It has been confirmed that the game will have some form of connection to "Pokémon GO."
