Veterans of the "Pokemon" games know that the move Splash is one of the most iconic moves a Pokemon can ever perform. After all, it is immediately recognized as the most useless move in the game franchise due to the fact that it deals zero damage. When a player uses the move, the text "But nothing happened" will even appear on the screen as if to taunt the player.

Furthermore, according to Game N Guide, the move is associated with the Pokemon Magikarp, which players only get in order to evolve to Gyarados as soon as possible. With this, a lot of players are surprised that the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" game has revolutionized Splash, and the move will now have a purpose.

As fans can remember, the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" game have introduced some new exciting mechanics such as the Z-Crystals, which can power up one move once per battle. Now, even the useless move Splash can get a power boost with the use of a Normalium Z crystal in order to get the move Z-Splash.

While it could be frustrating to see "But nothing happened" on the screen when the move is used, the move will still boost the user's attack by a multiplier of three.

According to WWG, the Z-Splash move gives an insane boost that can turn even the weakest Pokemon into a very powerful offensive creature. Furthermore, Gyarados can choose to retain the move Splash when evolving from a Magikarp, and that certainly changes the way how the Dragon-type Pokemon is played in the new version of the "Pokemon" games.

Regardless, it is worth noting that careful consideration should be observed when trying to use Splash to wreak havoc. After all, it still takes up one valuable moveslot as well as a Pokemon's item slot, which could result in a bad trade-off in the long run.
