Fans have been waiting for the renewal of "Prison Break" season 6. And while Fox remains mum about it, its lead star Dominic Purcell, who plays the role of Lincoln Burrows, revealed that the sixth season is now in the works.

In one of the 47-year-old star's Instagram posts, he shared a snap of the show's title and captioned it with, "In the works." As fans were all surprised with the post, the Australia-British actor did not reveal anything else about it.

In fact, the photo's comment section is now being bombarded with a lot of questions from Purcell's followers. Some fans are asking about the storyline, while others are mostly celebrating the announcement.

However, some people who have seen the post, as well as publications that have started sharing the news, believe that it is an official confirmation that "Prison Break" season 6 is indeed happening. The renewal of the show is quite unexpected with the previous chapter's low ratings.

But with its lead stars' (Purcell and Wentworth Miller playing Michael Scofield) popularity right now as Mick Rory and Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, respectively, in the Arrowverse, it is not surprising that the television serial drama created by Paul Scheuring gets another shot with a 6th season. The big question now is what the new season's storyline would be.

With season 6 happening, Purcell and Miller are expected to reprise their roles as Lincoln and Michael, along with Sarah Wayne Callies as Sara. The three might once again be involved in an epic plot that they have to escape in "Prison Break" season 6.

To recall, the previous shortened season ended on a positive note. The Poseidon threat has been shut down, while Michael, Sara, and their son, Mike, are now living peacefully. Fans are surely expecting big twists to start the new chapter.

As nothing is official yet, fans still have to wait for Fox's official announcement about "Prison Break" season 6's return.
