Viewers will see Ray (Liev Schrieber) move heaven and earth to get his brother Terry (Eddie Marsan) out of jail in the upcoming episode of Showtime's crime drama series "Ray Donovan."

In "Come and Knock on Our Door," TV Guide reports that Ray, with his father Mickey (Jon Voight), will make a desperate attempt to free Terry from imprisonment. Terry, whose absence was heavily felt during the first episode of the show, is languishing in jail due to Mickey's failed robbery attempt at the end of the second season.

According to TV Fanatic, Terry's future looks very grim. He is currently in protective custody after killing an inmate in the prison yard. On top of it all, his Parkinson's is developing rapidly and he is looking at a life confined in a wheel chair. Frances (Brooke Smith) is not answering his letters and Fite Club is not owned by him anymore.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner David Hollander discussed the reason why Terry was kept back from appearing in "The Kalamazoo."

"That was really my choice. It was important that we felt his absence... It creates a want and a question. The first episode in many ways is about isolation and missing. Without Terry in that episode I think we're able to explore those characters (Mickey and Ray) in a different way," he said.

Last episode showed the Donovans having bad days. Ray had been set up by Paige (Katie Holmes) to "protect" a star quarterback who was having an affair with a Navy SEAL's wife. It turned out she just wanted to goad the SEAL into causing the quarterback physical harm to strengthen their case. His daughter Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) was also disappointed with him after he missed their family dinner.

Meanwhile, Bunchy (Dash Mihok) discovered he did not have the guts to take on the Luchadores. The younger Donovan's clear attraction to Teresa (Alyssa Diaz) was not helping matters as well, as the Luchadora thought he was a pervert.

"Ray Donovan" airs Sunday at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
