Rockstar Games had just recently confirmed the existence of the highly anticipated third installment in the "Red Dead" series, "Red Dead Redemption 2." However, during the official unveiling of the game, the company hadn't really revealed all the details about the title, including information regarding which gaming systems it will be playable on when it is released.

Now, the game's developer has confirmed that the game will be coming out on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Sony had even made their own announcement on their official blog, revealing to avid fans of the franchise that the game would be taking advantage of their system to tell the story of the sequel and how it would provide a "foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience." Based on the statement, the game may include an entirely separate online mode that should be quite unique to see as far as online multiplayer games go.

The upcoming sequel will reportedly not be available on older generation consoles such as the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Rockstar has also not yet revealed if the game would be coming out for the PC, but several reports have claimed that a PC version will likely be released a few months after the console versions are made available.

Several fans have also started to discuss the possibility of the game being made available on Nintendo's upcoming next generation hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, most of the reports don't really see this happening as Nintendo's console might not have been made to receive mainstream games like other systems.

As of the moment, it has yet to be determined if this would indeed be the case as Nintendo and Rockstar may still reach an agreement to port to the game to the Switch console depending on its reception after it is released.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is scheduled to be released in mid-September next year, with the PC version likely to be coming in early 2018.
