While "Resident Evil 7" is set to launch on January 24, 2017, fans of the game have already been given a chance to sample the demo that was released on October for PS4 owners.

The demo for the game was made available to Playstation Plus subscribers ahead of its January release, much to the delight of avid fans of the franchise.

While the demo received good reviews, fans were still clamoring to learn more about the actual game. Based on a report by Polygon, the ESRB ratings site has posted a listing about the plot and combat details of the game.

According to the site, the main protagonist of the installment is named Ethan, who will be searching for his wife in a derelict mansion. In the trailer earlier released for the game, the wife could be heard in the background calling out for her husband.

In order to save his wife, Ethan must choose from weapons like pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to kill mutant creatures, which promises that the installment will be one of most graphic and gory chapters in the "Resident Evil" franchise.

The listing has been taken down by the site after the ESRB explained that Capcom asked that the information be removed from their listings for the meantime. The site further clarified that the information posted was accurate. However, they are still awaiting communication from the studio on an updated posting date.

Meanwhile, in the official blog for the game, Capcom warned fans that the development team has utilized new technology like the in-house RE Engine that includes VR oriented tools.

"With the RE Engine plus industry leading audio and visual technologies, you experience every abhorrent detail up close and personal in Resident Evil 7. Playing the game in the PlayStation VR Mode escalates the unsettling feeling of presence to a level that horror fans have never experienced. That's right, the full gameplay experience is available in the included PlayStation VR Mode from beginning to end. No Resident Evil you've ever survived could prepare you for this," posted Capcom, promising players that the game will usher in a new era of fear.
