One "Rick and Morty" episode and millions of hungry fans were all it took for McDonald's to bring back its fabled Szechuan sauce.

McDonald's has finally yielded to the clamor of "Rick and Morty" fans and recently promised to make the Szechuan sauce available again. On their website, they stated that they will be "giving away a one-time only, limited-edition, run of Szechuan Sauce in select restaurants. And when we say limited, we mean really, really limited!" The legendary dip will be back for only one day — Oct. 7. This time around, instead of pairing it with their McNuggets, McDonald's is promoting it as a sauce for its new buttermilk crispy tenders.

The Szechuan dip will be brought back alongside an "all-new Signature Sauce" that supposedly pairs perfectly with the McDonald's crispy tenders. In addition, the fast-food giant will also be releasing 1,000 limited-edition posters featuring 10 legendary McNugget sauces: Signature, Szechuan, Honey Mustard, Spicy Buffalo, Tangy BBQ, Sriracha Mac, Sweet and Sour, Hot Mustard, Creamy Ranch, and Honey. The sauce and the posters will only be available in the US, unfortunately.

The recent Szechuan sauce craze began after the season 3 premiere of "Rick and Morty," when protagonist Rick extolled the virtues of the discontinued McNugget Sauce from 1998. The sauce was initially promoted as a tie-in to Disney's "Mulan" from the same year.

Rick explained to Morty that most of his actions in that episode were due to his obsession with the sauce. Rick went through a lot of near-death incidents, endangered his grandchildren, and even messed with the infinite universes only to get a taste of the Szechuan sauce one more time.

After the episode was aired on April 1, a cult-like craze spread online, and fans started calling for the return of the Szechuan sauce. McDonald's dropped a few hints, but only confirmed the dip's return in this recent announcement.

Those in the US hoping to get another chance to taste the sauce should get ready to race other fans on Oct. 7.
