Riverdale season 3 is just a few months away from airing on The CW and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is dropping some teasers as the anticipation builds.
He dropped a photo on Twitter of Archie (KJ Apa) dressed up in boxing gear looking fresh from a tussle in the ring and like he is ready for a fight.
He also revealed in the same tweet that filming for the third season gets started on Friday so things are certainly rolling.
"Look who's back in red and fighting shape for Season 3 of #Riverdale. We start Friday. SO EXCITED!" he tweeted.
It's a good thing Archie is ready for a fight as he's in a really tough situation after being framed for the murder of Cassidy Bullock by Hiram Lodge at the end of season 2.
Of course, Archie is innocent as the one who really brought down Bullock was Andre. But now Archie has been arrested for the crime, he has a really big fight on his hands to clear his name and prove his innocence.
Aguirre-Sacasa recently spoke to TV Line about Archie's predicament. He said it was "ridiculous" that Archie should go on trial for the crime and end up in a juvenile detention center. He also teased what the tone of the next season could be like: "There might also be sort of a prison noir element to [Season 3] as well," he said.
The title of Riverdale season 3 episode 1 has already been confirmed as 'Labor Day'. In another tweet last week, Aguirre-Sacasa teased a comic strip about Archie's courtroom battle for his honor and "a startling denouement that will fascinate you!!"
According to PureWow news site, there will be two new characters coming to the show in season 3 - Edgar Evernever and his daughter, Evelyn. There hasn't been any announcement yet about the actors cast in the roles but it seems they will be connected to the Alice and Betty story arc.
Riverdale season 3 premieres on The CW on October 10 at 8 p.m
