Rory Feek seeks to preserve wife Joey's memory through films he's making and book he's writing

With the passing away of country singer Joey Feek last March 4 after a lengthy battle with cervical cancer, her husband Rory has been trying his best to preserve his wife's memory, not as a cancer patient, but as a Christian singer who has touched countless lives.

"She talked to me about how she wants me to continue to tell our story, and other stories," Rory told PEOPLE. "This past spring I co-wrote and directed my first film, and she wants me to go on and continue writing and making more movies."

"And she's also encouraged me to write a book. Joey and I have both experienced the power of living, and telling a great story, so I hope to be able to continue writing and being part of a great story," he said.

Rory has been busy sharing snippets of their lives through his blog called This Life I Live. There, he has been writing their memories, their triumphs, as well as their heartaches as a family. Rory also used his blog to announce to the world his wife's death.

"My wife's greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven," he said. "The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her Saviour."

Rory feels grateful that Joey encouraged him to write, because now he has a treasure trove of memories that he can look back fondly on and share with their daughter Indiana when she grows up.

"Without realizing I was doing it, God has allowed me to capture hours and hours of Joey and her life at home on the farm, raising Indiana and playing music," he said. "I can't help but believe that those clips will be an important part of keeping Joey's memory alive in Indy's heart."
