Russian alliance with Syria to usher in rise of Antichrist, book author warns

On Tuesday, Syria's President Bashar al-Assad made a surprise visit to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in another sign of the deepening ties between the two nations.

During the United Nations General Assembly gathering of world leaders late last month, US President Barack Obama blasted the alliance between Russia and Syria, saying Assad is to blame for the four-year civil war in his country.

For book author Steve Magill, however, the friendship between Russia and Syria is more than just a matter of diplomacy; it is also a step further into the rise of the Antichrist.

Magill, who wrote the new book "Revelation and the Age of the Antichrist," uses two books in the Holy Bible—Daniel and Revelations—to explain why the alliance between Russia and Syria signals the beginning of the end times.

In a report on Charisma News, Magill particularly cited Daniel 7, which narrates the rise of four empires on the world stage.

The book author said the empires with the symbol of a lion with eagle wings are Great Britain and the United States, the empire with the bear symbol is Russia, while the empire with the leopard is Islam.

Magill noted that never in world history have these four nations appeared on the world stage, until now.

Citing Revelations 13:2, Magill described the role that each of the nations will play leading to the rise of the Antichrist.

The author said Great Britain and the United States will be the Antichrist's mouthpiece that will set the agenda into establishing a new world order.

Russia, meanwhile, will serve as the feet of the Antichrist by supporting the landscape in the Middle East.

Islam, according to Magill, will be the body of the Antichrist's empire.

"Russia's revived treaty with Syria is important because the Antichrist will appear out of Syria. Scripture also records Russia as the feet of the Antichrist ordained to mobilise his empire," the book author said.

With the way things are going, Magill said the age of the Antichrist is just around the corner, and that the Earth will only last up to seven years.
