Two Samsung phablets released last September made waves in the market — the Galaxy Note 4 and its brother, the Galaxy Note Edge. They share almost the same features, with their most visible difference being the latter's curved display on one side.
The Galaxy Note 4 has the same design and form factor as its predecessor, but a designer imagined that its successor, the Galaxy Note 5, will sport a curved display on both sides. This type of display, once seen only in concept images, was made into reality by LG Display when it released a smartphone with curved edges.
The latest Samsung Galaxy Note 5 render was created by concept designer Maryum Ayub. The curved display was visualized to be 5.9 inches in size with 4K screen resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The hypothetical device also boasts an all-metal casing that gives it a sophisticated look.
Under the hood, the imagined handset uses a Samsung Exynos 3.2 GHz octa-core processor with 4 GB of RAM. It runs with the next generation of Android OS and has a 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage variants. At the back is a 19-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, and it has 4.7-megapixel camera in front. It draws power from a 3700 mAh battery which allows for 30 hours of talk time and 40 days of standby time.
Following the pattern that Samsung follows for its releases, the designer thinks that the Galaxy Note 5 would be released in September at its usual launching platform at the IFA tech event.
Meanwhile, the South Korean tech company offered no comment regarding the aforementioned rumors and emerging concept images. The company is currently delivering the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge to buyers. However, there is a guarantee that the phablet line will be updated this year.
