Samsung Galaxy S9 new variants specs & features review 2018: Flagship handset to receive 128GB and 256GB storage options

Samsung launched its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last February, which were made available with up to 64GB internal storage space. While the premium handsets deliver some cool new features, some users believe that they would maximize their experience by increasing the storage capacity. With this, the South Korean tech giant has announced that it would begin shipping two bigger storage variants for the Galaxy S9 in the coming weeks, the 128GB and 256GB versions.

Per the latest report, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be available in 128GB and 256GB built-in storage options in the United States this month. The pre-order period for the said S9 variants was opened in May 1, and the units will be released on May 18. The smartphones are now available for purchase via Samsung's official retail website.

Some users were quite disappointed when the Samsung Galaxy S9 was unveiled earlier this year with only 64GB internal storage. To note, the company's closest rival, Apple, has launched the iPhone X last year with up to 256GB of built-in memory. While the current Samsung Galaxy devices already have microSD card slots to expand the memory, it would be quicker and easier to store the huge files directly into the built-in storage, instead of having them manually transferred to an external memory card.

This will not be the first time that Samsung has offered the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in larger storage versions. As reported by NDTV, the company already introduced the 256GB storage variant along with the original 64GB option when the flagship handset first arrived in India earlier this year. A few weeks later, the 128GB variant also became available in the country.

"With new 128GB and 256GB storage options, consumers can take and store even more 4K movies, epic Super Slow-mo videos and amazing low-light pictures. For users, more on-board storage means more ease, flexibility and convenience to manage their photo and video libraries. The new Galaxy S9 and S9+ continue to support external microSD cards of up to 400GB capacity," Samsung said in an official announcement
