Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 release date, specs news 2018: GFXBench listing suggests will not feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip

The rumors are rife that Samsung will introduce a new entry to its Galaxy Tab S series in the coming months. While the South Korean tech giant has yet to confirm the development of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, recent leaks suggest that the next high-end tablet is on its way. In fact, a latest benchmark listing shows the tablet packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Although, some people have expected the Tab S4 to use the most recent Snapdragon 845 chip instead.

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor. With this, it was expected that the upcoming high-end devices from Samsung, including the Galaxy Tab S4, will be shipped with the same Snapdragon chip. Per the latest GFXBench benchmark listing, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will stick with the Snapdragon 835, the same chip used by last year's top-tier handsets.

The Samsung tablet is listed to have an Adreno 540 GPU, which is known to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It appears that the company will wait for another year to incorporate the latest Qualcomm chip to a Galaxy Tab S model. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is expected to sport a 10.5-inch display with 1,600x2,560 pixels resolution.

GFXBench has a particular Samsung device with model number SM-T835, and people have already assumed that this is actually the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. This is because of the model numbers of the previous Tab S series models, the Galaxy Tab S2 with SM-T815 and the Galaxy Tab S3 with SM-T825.

Per the latest reports, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will also feature 4GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The high-end tablet will also sport a 12MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing camera. The Tab S4 is expected to run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update out of the box. In spite of the new benchmark listing, Samsung has yet to mention that a new Galaxy Tab S model will hit the market soon, although the tablet is believed to drop very soon as the Galaxy Tab S3 was released almost a year ago.
